Elaine van Hoffen
Elaine studied
fine art at Michaelis School of Art. Yet she only started
painting full time almost 4 decades later. Her first solo
exhibition was in May 2007. “Art has always been my
passion,” she says. Elaine takes subject matter from her
surroundings – Elaine paints swiftly in oils, building up
stained-glass-like glazes on her large canvasses and
finishing with pure colour. Impressionism inspires her with
its emphasis on the dance of light and colour. She is also
inspired by where she lives which is in Boussac, France.
